On a busy school morning, you might find yourself reaching for a quick "breakfast", such as a piece of fruit or even a protein bar. On the surface, these might seem like great options. But in reality, you'll likely find yourself with a grumbling stomach just a few minutes into first period. To avoid this, try opting for a more nourishing, healthy, and nutrient-dense breakfast to start your day on the right note. I'm sure we've all heard the saying "breakfast is the most important meal of the day", and although it may be a cliché, I have discovered it to be quite truthful. Anyway, I digress. Try out this easy, quick, healthy, and delicious smoothie recipe--it will surely impress you and your taste buds!

Ingredients:

- 1 cup whole milk Greek yogurt

- 1 frozen banana

- 1 tablespoon peanut butter

- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon

- 1 tablespoon chia seeds, hemp seeds, or both

- ½ cup nut milk (almond, cashew, or oat), or as needed for blending

How to:

1. Take the frozen banana out of the freezer and let it thaw for 5 minutes to help blend smoothly without overworking the blender :)

2. Add the Greek yogurt, slightly thawed banana, peanut butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and chia or hemp seeds to the blender.

3. Pour in ½ cup of nut milk to help blend. Add more if needed for a thinner consistency.

4. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy, about 30-45 seconds.

5. Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately!

Pro Tip: For extra protein, add a scoop of your favorite protein powder!
